What is your Biggest Fear?

If you watched even a small portion of that video you would see one of my biggest fears. I hate the ocean and am so afraid of waves. I had an “incident” in California when I was 14 years old that almost ended it all. I got smashed by a wave while boggy boarding and could not get back up to the surface. I remember thinking that I was too young to die. It was pretty scary.

I managed to get up finally but only for a quick breathe before the next wave came crashing down. I have a hard time not seeing and feeling that every time I step into the ocean.

We have a 3 and 5 year old girls who LOVE the ocean and I am trying not to pass the fear onto them but it is hard. When we moved to Australia in 2011 I almost had a heart attack each time we were at the beach. In early 2012 I decided I needed to go after my fear. Without thinking about it (I would have chickened out) I registered for a surf course on the Gold Coast. I figured if I understood the currents and how the water moved, I might not be as scared.

That day was filled with fear, unknown, happiness and pride. I had not only went after my fear head on (and I mean literally, we had to paddle out OVER the waves I feared so much) but even stood on the surf board and turned a few times. It was exhilarating.

I will not lie – there are still days when I find that fear creep back into my mind. When we were in Cuba the last day the wind had picked up and the white caps on the waves made my tummy do flip flops but every time I go back to the moment of facing that fear and smile knowing I did it. And had fun too!

This story can help you with whatever you might fear. It is important to address it first. Then figure out “why” you have the fear and then hit the fear head on. MOST of the time the fear of that fear is WAY worse then you thought. I know it was for me.

So whether it is fear with your business (fear of failure, fear of what people may think, fear of rejection) or fear in your personal life (fear of regret, fear of loss, fear of loneliness), attack it head on and see what happens. I am sure it won’t be a bad as you made it out to be.

Have a fantastic day.

Thank You!

Thank You!

I did a great Yoga class yesterday and we ended with a meditation and a moment of gratitude.
“What are you grateful for?” the instructor asked.

I know some people believe they have nothing to be grateful for but I promise you, you do.

I have my health, my family, my house, food on the table — I actually ran out of time before I could finish. I am grateful I get to stay home with my daughters, have the best love from the greatest man, live in a technological world that my sisters, mom, nieces and nephews are only a Facetime away instead of 3000+ miles. I am grateful to you for taking the time to read this blog, to follow my writings and videos. I am grateful for so much.

I was talking to my oldest daughter about her school’s Christmas donation box. She was asking why we needed to donate things to other kids. Her innocence is fabulous and I never want to take that away. She said that Santa will make sure the kids get some presents for Christmas. We then talked about how some kids don’t have heat or electricity. Some kids come to school hungry because they do not have enough money to buy food.

I am grateful that I only have to talk to my daughter about these things and not actually live them with her.

No matter what your circumstances, even the worst case scenario, there is always something or someone to be grateful for. Please take a minute to give thanks and if you can give an extra hug or a smile.

If you want to give a shout out to someone you are grateful for, please comment below.

Some of my favourite Gratitude Quotes:

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John F. Kennedy

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.” – Melody Beattie

“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” – Brian Tracy

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
 – Oprah Winfrey

“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” – Epictetus

Please comment, like and share – I would be very grateful :)

Get Er Done!

I taught a spin class this morning to a great group and as I was yelling above the pumping music, it hit me like a ton of bricks. What I do as an instructor and a personal trainer is exactly what you need to hear in your business.

I was telling them to stop listening to the excuses your body is telling you. Push harder, work stronger and you will be glad you did.

No one ever said they were disappointed after a great work out!! Your business is the same. Work hard, remove the excuses and “Get Er Done!

Most of the time when I am training or instructing, it is all about getting past those limits that we have created for ourselves. Cold calling is hard, scary, “I don’t like rejection” — these are all limits we put on our business for example.

I told my class today that they made the effort to get up, pack their bag, arrange child care, went to the class, with all the effort, they want to make sure it is worth it! Work hard and get a good workout in. The same goes for a business. Spend the money, do the training, speak to friends and family, but make it worth it.

What has Facebook Done For You Lately? Lesson #1

Image

I have been talking a lot about Facebook recently and you may be getting sick of hearing it but it is the ultimate business builder. You do not need a website, a lead capture page, an autoresponder or any other fancy online tool (As you get more experienced I do recommend many of these but for now don’t worry if you do not know what they are).

With your personal profile, you can connect with people all over the world. You can turn 1 billion + people into your warm market. What would that do for your business? With about 30 minutes a day (which is also the average time people spend browsing their status updates) you could be creating relationships and networks.

But Lindsay – how do I start, what do I say, how do I pitch my business? All good questions, but
I want you to step back and look at your personal profile. This is lesson #1.

Many people are making huge mistakes on their profile that are no helping you or your business. I know you may be thinking, but my personal profile is not about my business. It is personal, for my friends and family. I understand that however people are watching you and they will look at your profile and decide right then and there if they would consider working with you, networking with you and becoming your friend.

Image

Ok so a few very important points:

1. A clear picture of who you are (no pictures of kids, dogs or landscape) – you need to be a real person.

2. A banner picture (my husband and I at the beach) that is fun, shows lifestyle and personality

3. In my About Section – for those with a Fan Page “Teaching Success Online with Lindsay Hack” is a quick connection to my Fan Page.

4. Branding — Only Me! Nothing about my company – create some interest.

5. Photos – event photos, big leaders, fun events (not drunken half-naked pub night photos)

6. Be Yourself!! Do not pretend – it is exhausting! Be a little edgy, have fun, enjoy but be respectful. I am who am I with you as I am with my best friend. Honest, no BS, straight to the point, a little sarcastic and goofy. That makes more sense then trying to be something you are not.

Also – make sure you have your contact details in the ABOUT section. You email and phone number. You want to be reached if someone wants to connect with you.

I will continue with Lesson #2 tomorrow and talk a little about posting etiquette. I will talk about Fan Pages as well but for now we are sticking with your personal page.

If you found this helpful, please like and share. Don’t miss the next lesson, Be sure to follow this blog and send me an email if you want to get on my newsletter where you learn more tips and tricks to grow your business both online and offline.

Meet Lindsay Hack – My Story

Who is Lindsay Hack?

I have been working with my coach and mentor about “my story”.

Here is my first attempt and would love your feedback.

My name is Lindsay Hack. I am a personal trainer, healthy living coach, network and Internet marketer and a mom and wife.

I grew up in suburb west of Toronto, Canada called Mississauga. My mom had many different careers during my childhood years and went back to University when I was young to get a degree in Physiology. I remember wondering why she would bother; of course I was a child and didn’t understand. My dad and mom got divorced when I was quite young, and other then knowing I never wanted to get married, I didn’t really seemed that bothered.

Image

I was a rebellious teenager who didn’t really try in High School and didn’t really want to go to University but did because it seemed like the “right” thing to do. After a 3-year degree in Drinking (ok it was actually Communication/Theatre but I didn’t do much) I started working with a communication company. It was ok but I got bored pretty quickly and wanted more of a challenge. I move to another communications company and was doing well. But I still knew I was destined to do more.

I decided I wanted to go travelling and hooked up with a friend who was heading to England for work. I flew over with her and then started a 12-month adventure alone through Europe. Little did I know I was going to meet my future husband on this adventure. I got to travel to Paris, Belgium, Ireland and many other beautiful places learning and exploring what the world had to offer.

After 12 months, I was ready to move on and Ben (now husband of 10 years) decided to come with me. We traveled for another 12 months across Canada, India, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. It was an incredible journey that not only taught us that we were meant for each other, but also that we loved traveling and the excitement of the journey.

Image

We settled in Canada after leaving 2 years before and tried to get “REAL” jobs. We waited patiently for Ben to get his working visa so he was able to work legally in Canada.  I started working at a Pharmaceutical company in the IT department and moved up in rank over the next 2 years, but the truth was I hated it. I missed travelling, I missed the freedom of coming and going and I wanted something better. We decided to take a ‘financial pause’ on our future so I could go back to University for a second time and do something I really wanted. I went into Nutritional Sciences and started as a personal trainer. That was 10 years ago and I still love helping people, teaching people and motivating people to reach their goals.

Image

I worked my way through the largest Fitness Club in Canada and soon became the Fitness Manager at one of their leading clubs. I loved to lead people; I loved helping my personal trainers hit their financial goals and their personal fitness goals. I worked long and hard but it was ok because I finally found something I was passionate about.

We moved from Toronto to Calgary, Canada in 2007 and had our first daughter in 2008. What an adventure. I started my own personal training business and was able to stay at home with my daughter, train for my Ironman race and work with clients. It was amazing. Our second daughter was born in 2010 and it was then when both Ben and I started to get restless. We were travellers at heart and we had been in one place for a few years.

Image

When the opportunity to move the family over to Australia came, we jumped in with 2 feet. Sold all of our belongings and boarded a plane with a 1 and 3 year old to fly across the world.

Image

When we left Australia the first time, I truly didn’t think we would be back, but here we were +2 in Sydney enjoying the weather, the beaches and the change it had brought us. Our stay in Australia was amazing with many challenges that happen when you are far away from loved ones, with small children and a demanding job. We eventually decided to move back to Canada and try and “settle” again.

The beauty of being a healthy living coach is that you can do it anywhere, online or offline and I was able to continue to grow my business all over the world.

In the summer of 2012 I was introduced to Network Marketing. I was actually looking for a product that would help me with my triathlons and my performance. I did a lot of research and found an great company with great products. I had great results personally right away and started sharing my great business with others. It was easy to share with my personal training background and my business grew quickly. My team grew and I earned my car in 3 months and started making really good money. But then the business fell apart! It crumbled before my eyes and I was devastated. I thought about quitting.

Image

I did not quit! I worked harder and used those failures into successes.

With the help of a great mentor, great training and support, I began to truly enjoy building my business again. I love the freedom it offers, the travelling opportunities we continue to have and the ability to help people both financially and physically.

Image

In addition to living my dreams, my passions are my family – my 2 gorgeous daughters and my husband Ben, spending time with friends, triathlons and running and of course traveling!

We became a statistic and still had the best family vacation ever!!

We became a statistic and still had the best family vacation ever!!

Ok so where do I start. What a vacation. Making a living……living. Words we live by. We are already planning our next vacation.

We had one of the best family vacations ever and even had some major hiccups that may have ruined many people’s whole trip.

We arrived in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba at 8:45pm and waited patiently at the luggage line until every piece was claimed and the lights went off. Oh no – where are our bags?!? We have 2 little girls (and 2 adults) very excited to start their vacation. We have done A LOT of travelling in our time and have never once had we lost our luggage so I guess we were lucky. We became that statistic that you always hear about.

After filling out the paperwork and asking the Resort bus to wait until we were sorted, we grabbed 2 beers (well deserved I think) and jumped on the bus with just our carry on. No underwear, no toothbrushes, no swimsuits – nothing. Ben and I are pretty laid back people so we were just rolling with the punches, but my 5 year old, she was devastated!! She had helped pack the luggage and looked at this little hiccup as the “worst vacation ever” We ensured her that we would still have an amazing time and would buy bathing suits first thing in the morning. That made her feel a little better.

And so we went 3 days without anything! It really shows that WHAT you pack has nothing to do with the FUN you can have. We bought 4 bathing suits at the lobby store, 4 toothbrushes and 2 t-shirts so the girls could wear something other then the clothes they wore on the airplane. In the end, we made it into an adventure and not a spoiler. We bought a few new things each day (some underwear, a dress, another pair of shorts for Ben). The major missed item was our camera and our chargers for our phones. We were completely unplugged and nothing we could do about it but enjoy every moment and that is what we did.

We woke up, ate, went to the pool, went to the beach, napped, ate some more, watched the shows and slept. That was our rinse and repeat for the whole vacation. it was pure bliss.

We finally got the good news – our luggage was in the country and headed to the hotel. Exciting stuff and when we return to our room, there it was, everything we had packed. Our camera made up for the lost time lol — We recently bought a GoPro and it takes amazing video, still photos and action shots. It is fully water proof (see the fun picture of my daughter in the pool) and very durable. The girls loved playing with it in the swimming pool.

The rest of the vacation was truly amazing with not a single complaint. The girls LOVED the kids club which gave us adults some time to enjoy some drinks by the pool, walks along the beach and have a simple coffee without running after them. The activities were wonderful with a Princess Tea Party and PJ party one night to give us a dinner date together. Pure bliss.

I was completely disconnected from the online world. As with many far off places, the internet was too slow to do anything so I stayed away. No connection with any of you (and I missed you dearly) but it was refreshing to be without even for a week. I highly recommend it to everyone at least once.

I even managed to get 2 books read while I was away, which I recommend as well (self development is so important)

FOUR Books I highly recommend to change your mindset (I managed to finish 2 of these while away)

1- Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kyosaki

2 – Go Pro by Eric Worre

3 – The 4 Hour Work Week – Timothy Ferriss

4 – The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson

We are committing to continue to vacation as a family as often as possible. The memories we made, the fun we had will last a life time. That is the beauty of having the freedom to go anywhere (of course this was a intenet-free vacation but most of the time as long as I have my laptop, I can work anywhere!!) Also because I work with a travel company, the easiest and best place to find others who love to travel is on VACATION. Networking by the beach, chatting in the pool is the best “office” there is.

Making memories and travelling are the best in the world and I am lucky enough to do it for a living. Priceless!!

Make a Living…..Living.

Next vacation booked to South Carolina over Christmas, Kentucky in January, hot and sandy again in February and we will continue from there……

See you on the beaches of the world!

Dedication and Training – WOWzers YOU got to check this out!!

I am working on my vacation post BUT had to share this with you! This is amazing. You do not have to be a gym nut, gymnastic fan or martial arts guru to appreciate true greatness.

I have loved Jean-Claude Van Damme for a long time (I used to watch his movies as a teen). His body, his ability to do things that takes dedication and training – amazing!!

You gotta watch it. It is just over a minute. Love it!

Home again home again jiggidy jig...oh and [Urgent] last day! It ends 2nite at midnight 11-14-13

We are home after a fantastic vacation and I cannot wait to tell you all about it. I am putting some pictures together and the “whole” story which includes lost luggage, rain storms, zero internet and some serious fun and memories made. I will post that later tonight, but before I missed it, I wanted to post you this important message.

This is urgent as it ends TONIGHT at 11:59pm EST and will not be offered again and I want you to get in before it ends. … and hopefully it’s not already too late!

Click to see the overview video and to buy the course now! http://bit.ly/HsDUAT

A few days ago we did a webinar on Facebook recruiting and how to effectively recruit people
into your biz using Facebook… without being cheesy and spammy.

It was a killer training and the feedback we got was incredible!

We featured someone who in my opinion is the best trainer in the game when it comes to Facebook recruiting… her name is Jessica.

Using Facebook, Jessica went from being a “struggling to sign up even one person 21yr old”
to generating a $10k p/month income purely doing Facebook recruiting.

She laid out a lot of great information on that webinar and if you missed it, I’m sorry, I’m not
here to tell you I have a replay for you.

However, I am here to tell you that she created an incredible course that she’s put together on how to recruit tons of reps into your business through Facebook like she did. It’s an amazing program!

She recently launched it and to limit the competition and the amount of people that know her
secret strategies, she’s only made her course available until tonight.

So tonight, Thursday November 14th, is the literally last day you can buy her course and get
in on her mentoring program.

The shopping cart to buy her course closes tonight at Midnight Eastern Time.

I highly recommend you click here to watch her video overview on what you’re going to get inside her course and buy it now if you’re even somewhat interested in learning how to do cold market prospecting and recruiting online via Facebook.

http://bit.ly/HsDUAT

This is the one course I personally recommend over everything else out there. WHY? Because we all already spend time on Facebook, so instead of wasting time, lets grow our business together.

Don’t miss out. The reviews of the first module have been beyond amazing.

Sign up HERE and we will put your business into high gear.

http://bit.ly/HsDUAT

Speak soon and I will share our vacation photos soon.
